How do you connect a transformer to a voltage selector then to the power input in a radio receiver?
I guess this applies to radio as well. In typical tape recorders, which can operate with ac mains or buit in battery, the connector is such that when connector is pushed in, the battery gets cut out. This is a mechanical arrangement acting as a switch. So no need to switch. In general an SPDT switch can select a mains powered battery eliminator or a battery as power source. One can also make this automatic using diodes in series. If mains power is available and a bit more than battery voltage, the device will take power from mains. When it is absent, it will take power from battery. No swicthing is required, as the higher of the two is automatically selected by the diode OR circuit.
